1. I believe my most successful art project was my lollipop drawing. I think this is the best drawing I did in this class. One of the reasons I did so good was because our class was working with colored pencils on this project. I have always loved working with colored pencils because of their texture. Before this project I also bought my own set of Prisma Colored Pencils. These are very high quality colored pencils that work very well with shading and helped me tremendously throughout this project. Another big factor in the success of this project was my art teacher and peers. Ms. Rossi throughout the project taught me many valuable techniques. These techniques helped me with things such as shading, making the wrapper look transparent, and create wrinkles within the wrapper. Without all this help my lollipop wouldn't look nearly as good as it does.
2. One of my least favorite pieces was my painting of the chameleon. This was a project where we had to create a painting in the style of a famous artist that we chose at random. The artist I chose was Pablo Picasso. At first I thought this was an awesome choice but I would soon realize it wasn't as desirable as it seems. The big reason I believe this project was a failure because of my decision making. When I first thought of Pablo Picasso of course I thought for the style of my painting, cubism. This is what I believe was my biggest mistake because although he is known for cubism its a VERY challenging style. I think this project would have turned out a lot better and possibly one of my best if i had choose one of his many other styles.
3. Going over my art work two pieces that stuck out to me as the ones that specifically showed my growth was my Lollipop project and my historical building drawing. I believed these showed the most growth because compared to most my artwork these pieces stood out. One reason these showed the most growth was because I had a lot of help and I was using common materials I work good with. One of the pieces was made with colored pencils and the other with regular pencil. Ms. Rossi helped me grow as an artist by teaching the class and I a lot of different 3-D techniques. These techniques such as one, two, even three point perspective were helpful for these two projects. Another technique I grew a lot with was shading. Ms. Rossi had to help me a lot with shading as you can see its pretty bad in my historical house drawing but by the time we drew the lollipops my shading skills were a lot better than before. These projects helped me become a better artist and learn many new valuable techniques.
4. Two mini lessons that helped a lot for the actual project was the mixed media practice and creating circles with highlights out of oil pastels. These were practices for the two projects Mixed Media, and a Jolly Rancher drawn out of oil pastels. The mixed media project was to choose a theme and make a collage out of it. The Jolly Rancher project was where the whole class got a jolly rancher and drew from it in oil pastels. The practice for mixed media helped me prepare for the actual project by learning to work with the new materials like gesso and gel. The practice also helped me learn techniques like applying texture to my collage. The jolly rancher practice though helped me more than you could imagine. If we had never done a practice my actual project would have been my worst one all year because i was so bad with pastels. I have used them before but had never taught properly on how to use them. The practice before the actual project helped me learn things like shading and creating highlights with oil pastels. Overall I'm very glad we did a practice before most projects because without the practice before a lot of my projects would have turned out terrible.
5. Colored pencils is hands down my favorite medium to work with. I love using colored pencils because I love drawing. In my opinion its better to draw with colored pencils instead of a regular pencil. This is because it gives you advantages you don't have with just a regular pencils. Some of these is that of course regular pencils don't have color, I believe everything looks better in color. Also colored pencils are ideal for shading. When creating a drawing sure you can shade with a regular pencil wont look nearly as good as shading with colored pencils. Overall colored pencils are the best medium because they share almost all of the same techniques of regular pencils but have huge advantages over regular pencils in certain categories.
P.S. Sorry all the pictures are at the bottom they are in order with each question but I couldn't get them to go next to or under each section
